A little fouling is good for accuracy if you're shooting a rifle. I clean my creedmoor and other long range rifles well after every shoot and patch before going out again. I then have to fire off a few rounds to foul the bore if I'm going to get good results at 200 out to 1000.

Most target shooters foul the bore prior to shooting for record as well.

100% Copper Chore Boy on a bronze bore brush to get the big lead stuff out and the lead that does not want to be removed i use a mix of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar 50/50.
I leave it in the barrel for 3 minutes and then scrub and clean it out.
Lead will fall out in chunks.. Do not leave it on any longer than 5 minutes.
It will pit the barrel if left in for a long time and it will eat aluminum and will remove blueing if you let it stay on the blueing.

I got my dads old 357 mag 6" barrel and there was no rifling it was just a lead filled hole.
He never cleaned his gun barrels did not have any cleaning rods or brushes in the house.
LPS on a rag and wipe down the outside is the best his guns ever got.

I had to use the peroxide vinegar as nothing would remove the lead all the way.
I did 3 treatments of the mix and between soaks I would clean and and scrub with Chore Boy.

Then clean/lube like you would any gun and dry patch it out.

I recently started using Bore Tech Eliminator at the suggestion of a friend. I used to use Sweets. While it worked excellent, the smell would drive you out of your home! I've found Bore Tech Eliminator to work excellent, without any smell.
