And if so, do you have any thoughts on this website and the numerous charts? Can you remember how things were before 1971 compared to how they are now?

And if you want to get to the gist of it, here's an article based on that website: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4356705-what-went-wrong-in-1971
Technically FDR did it in the 30’s but Nixon put the final nail in coffin in 1971, my guess I this is when money printing really took off and its been a $&!T show since then. And just wait until 2020 is over ....lol we haven’t seen anything yet. Governments are going to have to do a revers split on their currencies hahahaha!

not sure what I want to be when I grow up.
I'll never grow up. Life as in insentient child to get my way suits me, although not my wife.
When they look at me in the checkout line with some alcohol, they say, we don't need to check you......I correct them and tell them that they might, as my wife is always chastising me to quit whining like a 2 year old. Its life! :D

Nixon pulled us completely from the gold standard.
Pissed me off too. We could buy raw gold at that time overseas at the fixed government prices of $38 something and have it made into "art" to get it back into the US. For some dumb reason I didn't do it.
It was against the law prior to that to own bulk gold as it was the basis for our money value. It was legal to own gold as jewelry or art work.
I know one guy that had an unbelievable amount of gold cast into a Budda statue at the $38 per oz price. Carried it back to the US. I got to pick it up before he left and it was incredibly heavy for such a small statue. 10 pounds or better. Hope he caught one of the highs.
He wasn't the only person that did that.

It's funny...look at these lardbellied kids these days. No one wants to see most of them in a tube top or a bikini....
God bless 1971
