I had a 65 (I think) Rambler i bought for 300$. It had a front bench seat that would lay down flush with the back seat. Kept a roll of foam rubber rolled up with pillows and blankets and such. I could park anywhere and crash. Lots of trips to Lake Murray and Platt national park. Late 70's it was.

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
We were first married and Wife wanted a Pacer. We almost ended up divorced over it.
What is it with chicks and weird cars? My GF in the mid-70's had an AMC Gremlin. It looked like a blank flange. When we moved to CO it started overheating bad what with elevation and temperature changes. We had to continue the journey at night.

My dad ran the wheels off several Rambler 6cyl wagons. He always bought the standard transmission with overdrive for this purposes. His last was a big Ambassador wagon.

Hmmm... think I still have a '60-something Rambler 3-speed transmission. I was a mechanic at the local Ford dealer in the '70s, and a customer bought a salvage transmission but it had the wrong length input shaft (IIRC?).

Not sure whether I changed out shafts and kept the old one, or what the deal was. Seems like the one I have should be good, though.

Man, gettin' old ain't always what it's cranked up to be. Lately, I can't seem to remember where I put my memory...

I know it sounds weird, but I like odd shaped cars like the Gremlin and the Pinto. Friend had a Chevy Monza that I liked as well, though it only had a 2.5 four banger in it. But, I'm weird, so take that for what its worth.
