I agree, but as a lifetime supporter of the site, I wouldn't say anyone is "demanding" the site owner change anything, but nothing will change if feedback isn't given.

No decision is ever going to make everyone happy, and in my original post I wasn't asking for changes because I for one have the mentality everyone needs to take care of themselves, we don't need so much oversight in the world. I was simply relaying my experience and my solution for it, which is not dealing with people who don't have ratings or posts, which I think is the solution and can be managed on every users own individual basis without putting some overarching rule in place you have to have x number of posts to use it. Everyone can just look at the user reaching out to them and if they see no feedback and 4 posts, they can decide if they want to move forward, I for one will not anymore."

^^^ THIS ^^^

Isn't what the OP wants kinda like being a demoncrat? Wanting more governmental control by the site owner to regulate free enterprise so you don't get hurt?

I may have just been lucky, but I haven't had any issues in the classifieds. I do more buying than selling, so that may come into play, not sure. But for me, I would just structure the deal depending on risk. If I was dealing with an 'unproven' member, I'd be more inclined to meet closer to my home and maybe have more communications to feel them out. Seems like all the profile type information is provided by the forum, so everyone just needs to determine if they want to transact with someone.

From a safety perspective, I've always thought the transactions on here were probably safer than most by virtue of what this place is. I'd be surprised if both sides of a transaction among parties here weren't armed. I may be crediting the criminal with too much smarts, but if I was them, I'd rather scam or rob someone around an iphone than a gun.

If I'd had issues maybe I'd feel differently. But, as it is, I don't see a big problem. More annoyances, that can be fairly easily mitigated in my humble opinion. That said, now I'll probably get mugged at my next deal, lol.

I thought you guys wanted new members? Oh well...

You obviously didn't read or understand anything that's been posted.

Of course everyone here wants new members. It's how you grow. People are getting sick of the Armslist tools that only want to beat you down on price, argue and tell people to "**** off" when they are told to stop.

On a side note, I do hope the new members are reading these posts and understand that "most" members here encourage new people to join, become a part of this place and use the classifieds as well. The more stuff for sale/trade/WTB etc, the better for me. Understand that not everyone is going to want to deal with a new member for whatever reason, and that's ok.

Those that have and are getting stood up by people, change your tactics a bit. If I don't you know and I'm the seller, we are meeting at my convenience. Close to me and a place that meets my needs.

No idea what you mean, you should probably re-read my post. I specifically said in that post I DO NOT want oversight and am not asking for changes. I said I am not dealing with anyone without ratings or posts which is my choice.

Remember those trolls I spoke of earlier? Don’t let these guys sway your opinion. Maybe the owner will wise up and realize his community is going to **** and then do something about it. I bet he lets it go until there is no community left at all, just my .02

We do a lot of posting in this forum about defending the Second Amendment, and then a lot of complaining about other things. But, it seems that a great many of the things we complain about are folks exercising their rights as guaranteed in other sections of the Constitution. We argue against the requirements to wear masks, wear seatbelts, etc. We don't like being told to do, or not to do, anything.

But now we are demanding that the owner of this forum set rules that we want, ignoring that it is his right to manage the forum as he chooses. We want to limit access to the classified section to only certain members.

I don't like the actions of some new members, especially those that are only here to scam, but rethinking my own stance on this has brought me back to what we stand for in the beginning; support of the Constitution, all of it, not just what we like at any particular moment in time.

We don't like the pro athletics, now we don't like the Norman girls' basketball team, we don't like "Cheaper than Dirt". All for good reasons, but if we were to demand that they not be allowed to do the things that we dislike, we would be no better than those on the left that demand that we should not be allowed to do the things that we stand for.

The owner of this forum manages this like any of us would manage a business that we own, and it is his right to do so. Just as it it the right of any member to get their feathers ruffled and move on to another forum.

I choose to support the site for many reasons, mainly because of the people I've met, and the things I've learned from many members.

You are 100 percent correct, but the members of this forum can also be viewed as patrons of said business...especially when we are actively being asked to donate funds to the site owner and pay for for classifieds listings. What businesses are successful without listening to customer feedback and implementing strategies to meet its base's desires and needs? The site owner can absolutely do as he pleases, but he'll see no more of my money until the garbage in the classifieds section is addressed. There are countless other avenues for buying and selling outside of OSA, so I won't lose sleep either way.

IMO the failure to have a 25 - 50 post minimum is absurd, especially given that nearly all reputable forum marketplaces have similar requirements.
