I've read that the hooded snakes are vipers and poisonous but there are snakes that do no have a hood over it's eyes that are very poisonous. To me they are all poisonous like spiders.
I'm with john6185.............I don't like snakes....not even the good ones

Yep, commonly called a black snake. They will eat copperheads and rattlesnakes.
You can look up the pics on duck duck go.
We have a long one living around our home. Surprises us occasionally when moving a box in the garage or shop. I’ve posted pics of it in the past climbing trees on OSA.
They climb trees to check on bird nests.

Here it is looking in on us while we were watching TV.
Windows are 16” wide. When he got all the way laid on the sill, he stretches to about 6’.

All poisonous snakes in Ok have vertical elliptical eyes like a cat with the exception of the coral snake that will have a round eye.

Excellent snake to have around, as stated by Aries & TwoForFlinching,, a Rat Snake. They are fast & tend to be aggressive when provoked, Their bite will bleed, but is shallow , not deep, and MOST importantly is NOT poisonous . Keep mice & rodents at bay.
Years ago we had caught several copperheads on our property. The solution was to catch + release these guys....... problem solved.
As far as having these snakes around your chickens, not good, as stated by 16colt. They will raid your henhouse and coup. They love fresh warm eggs, and will even be bold enough to strangle an adult hen ! I lost a hen that way, and the dumb snake had swallowed her head and neck, couldn’t go any further due to the immense size discrepancy. Duh We had to seal up our hens nightly......snakes,possum and raccoon protection.
We had one of these guys climb up on our front porch light like yours did. Good stuff

Somewhere in this world there might be a poisonous snake, but all the dangerous snakes around here are venomous. Snakes are great to have around, unless you prefer to have rodents, I leave them alone unless they are venomous and close around the house. Rat snakes are especially good for rodent control. BTW Rat snake are constrictors, they can bite but they squeeze their pray to death.

Anyway, all but one venomous snake in OK are Pit Vipers. With a little training on snake ID these snakes are very easy to identify vs non-venomous snakes. As mentioned they have cat eyes hooded eye brows, flat top and triangulated head, their scales have ridges which makes their body color appear more flat than glossy. The other venomus snake is the Coral snake, it belongs to the cobra family, its also very easy to identify by the repeating sequence of color bands (red, yellow, black, yellow, red) the eyes are solid black, rounded pupils and their head is more pointed and rounded. Their scales are smooth giving them a shiny or glossy apperance.
