Read the story for the context:
Her boyfriend, 28-year-old Markeis McGlockton, and their 5-year-old son Markeis McGlockton Jr., exited Jacob's vehicle and entered the convenience store, detectives said. As Jacobs waited outside the parking lot, detectives said the shooter, 47-year-old Michael Drejka, approached her. Both got into an argument over the handicapped parking space, detectives said. A witness notified the store clerk of the argument, and McGlockton exited the store and approached Drejka. Detectives said they were told by witnesses that McGlockton pushed Drejka, causing him to fall to the ground.
So...he challenged the "perp" (the girlfriend). Boyfriend comes out, takes umbrage, possibly (we have no way of knowing) exchanges a few brief words, and shoves Our Hero, who fires upon boyfriend. I'll grant that I misspoke as to who parked illegally, but that doesn't change the fact that a man is dead because Our Hero had to get involved in what would have been, at most, a parking ticket. I don't know about you, but when I strap on my sidearm, it's not so that I can be a Junior Ranger Meter Maid. If Our Hero had reached for the holster containing his phone instead of challenging the driver (girlfriend), he probably never would have had to reach for the holster containing his gun. That's a fact.
