Congrats on your Mil-Spec brother!

If you want to stay close to spec/Original.

I would just go with a Trijicon Gov't 3-dot sight system. Flat checkered mainspring housing and have Mike hook you up with a nice trigger job.

That way you dont take away from the original look of the pistol much.

No matter your choice....you know your guns better than I do. So, I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
