1911 sight questions

OK so I have fixed novak cut sights on a RIA tactical 1911. It shoots about 4 inches low, so instead of my sight picture being lined up, I have to use the base of the front blade to aim. (Holds an great group tho) So my question is should I have a gunsmith file the front sight down to match my sight picture, or would I be better off getting new sights. If so how do I know what height to get so the front and rear sights will line up?

What distance, what ammo?

range reloads, magtech, only two i've really ran through it, 10 and 15 yards.

At that range you're still minute of death, so I wouldn't change a thing. See what it does at 25 yds.
