So I called my FIL. He said the 327 is a different motor than what came in it. BUT he said I thinks the 327 was a factory motor for this vehicle. Also he said it has 4 wheel disc brakes and was one of the first models to have that. I “think” I read somewhere that that model came with a 350 from the factory. He also seems to think the trans is a turbo 350 hydromatic, or the equivalent.
Well it looks like THAT model may have come with a 350. The 327 in it must have been swapped in later.

So, my amazing father-in-law gave me a 1971 Chevrolet C10 pickup. It has a freshly rebuilt 337 motor, with a three speed automatic transmission. My question here is would you keep that transmission?, or would you change it out for a turbo 350? or? Are they basically the same thing? Thanks in advance.

327" was discontinued by GM a couple years before that truck was made.

Just look at the transmission pan and find out what you have.
Nice truck.
All those GM trucks are heavy 4000+ lbs race weight.

If you decide to make a super quick one then keep that in mind.

My FIL went and looked. It is a 350. Not 327.
