Ok, putting the Ford up for sale. It’s been a fun project but I’m going to pass it on to the next owner. It will be an ongoing project but I think it’s a worthwhile one. Everything works including the AC. I’ve got a stack of receipts but I also have a wedding to pay for.
The interior is SUPER clean and the body is not bad for 30 years old. There is a little rust in the bottom of the front fenders but I did a crappy little bondo job on it before I painted it blue. It drives like a 30 year old truck but is fun and it gets some looks.
Here’s the skinny. It still starts a little hard, particularly from the front tank. The rear tank is new and both pumps are new. It seems to start and run better off of the rear tank. It starts acting like it’s starved for fuel. It’s never died on me but I have to feather the throttle a bit and sometimes switch to the rear tank for a second. After that, it seems to run fine-ish.
One day while I was working on it, the condensation coming out of the exhaust looked a little green. I don’t ‘think’ it has a weak head gasket but can’t confirm it. The ABS light is on but the sensor is new. The EGR and O2 codes flash but both are new. Just had the cats bypassed so that may be why.
260k. New pumps, new rear tank, new blower motor, new interior door handle and latch, new locker hubs, new bearings, injectors cleaned and rebuilt plus a ton of small stuff like gas caps, filler necks, countless connectors etc.
The new owner should think about u-joint and ball joints.
I still drive it everyday day while at work and will drive it back and forth to work for the whole week. Just needs some more elbow grease. All the necessary money has been spent.
