My kids are too old so I took my cousin out this year. I was starting to wonder if he was just thinking I took him out to the woods to just get misquito bit. The past two years we haven't seen anything when he has been with me. He has killed one deer before (a doe) with his grandpa, but really wanted his first buck bad. About 6PM we had a button buck walk in that he passed on (his decision not mine, I don't beleive in restricting young hunters who have not had a chance to hunt very often). Then right behind him came this 5pt. One shot from the 223 at 10 yards had the buck down within 20 yards. IT WAS AWESOME! I don't know who was more excited. Brought back alot of memories for me to of when my son got his first buck. I will be using a different bullet selection next time though. The remington CoreLok did a lot of damage but came apart and did not exit.
