Did you find it?
Searched my woods til it was getting close to dark. I then asked the fella to take me over where he shot it at. We got out and I started walking around and looking. Well I don't claim to be some kind of tracker much less a good deer hunter but damn if I didn't find about a 1/2 inch by 6 inch strip of fat and hide. Handed it to him and said I could be wrong but don't think you put a good shot on her. Should of seen the look on his face. He said he watched her head straight for my woods and thought he got her. It also taught me to start looking at the starting point and not just go making a dang grid search just cause someone said. Oh well, didn't get a venison dinner out of the deal but the lady that owns the property (the guy is her boyfriend) said I can hunt on her place too.. that's another 45 acres that wraps on 2 sides of my place. Woo hoo!

Just checking in to confirm I still suck at this hunting thing. Been out here about 6 hours. Only seen a few doe. Should have been paying more attention and may have had a shot when the big one walked in. Gonna stay a few more hours and see what happens!

I may suck but I sure do enjoy just being out here!
Sir, apparently you and I have the same luck hunting. Still good to be out if the house and in the woods. (I hunt western Oklahoma so its not really woods, 4 trees in one location out here is "woods".)

I have not done well this rifle season and today about 8:10 I shot me a nice buck. Nothing too great to brag about but I am very thankful for him, even with a broke antler on one side. I shot him and knew it was a solid hit but he ran into the woods.

Then I was waiting a few minutes to make sure he died and thought I would pay some bills on my phone. I look up after logging into the bank and I have a freaking monster walking towards me and at an angle. He ended up about 30 yards walking a slight diagonal away from me. He then stopped in what would have been a perfect shot. He even grunted twice which is the first time I ever heard one do that in the wild. Easily the nicest buck I have ever seen, perfect typical ten point.

Too bad he wasn't ten minutes earlier but was good to see and hopefully he is around next season. That is my story for this season and while a great buck was seen, the other that I shot will work just fine. He would have been nice, a bird in the hand is the way I look at it.

Now, off to ducks and geese full time.

I've hunted my whole life sitting on the ground. Never had a tree stand or ground blind. You'll see a lot of head bobbing, foot stomping, blowing deer. Sit still, no rapid head moving, look out the corner of your eyes.
After 30 minutes of blowing on Saturday, she wore out her welcome a few times over. Need to thin out the does some and she was a good place to start.

Didn’t happen today for me but was better than being in the couch! Hope both our luck changes soon.
