2022 Deer Pics/Chatter/Excuses

Got my first deer this week, 8 point, I've only been hunting for a couple of years.

Was sitting in my blind and he was within about 15 yards when I took the shot. Clean shot right through the heart. It ran about 30-50 yards and then dropped.

When I found it on the ground, I had 3 more deer walk up to me by within about 15 feet before they realized I was standing there, way closer than I would imagine they would get. Figured I could have shot another but I had my work cut out for me with this one, since I wanted to process it myself and didn't want to take another.

Made my first backstrap steak last night and it was amazing, as tender as any ribeye I've ever had.

I don’t know what buck seduction costs, but I’m feeding 13% Natural All Stock from Tractor Supply for $12.49/50# (if you buy 20 bags, you get 5% off). Dollars and cents wise, it’s pretty much a wash compared to bagged corn.

I think it's like $16 or $16.50/50#.

Only saw one buck this evening. Coyote chased this doe in. She stopped and stood behind a tree for almost 15min about 10y away watching the coyote and the coyote finally moved on and she stepped out. She was a big old nanny, 120-130lb dressed easy.

Thanks, that's friend's safe queen. Said he wasn't going to have time this year to shoot a deer with it again, so I didn't turn down his offer lol.
