It was big enough, all he had was a doe tag and his claim is, it was a doe because he asked it before he shot it, and it said it identified as a doe. Works for us dumb-ars humans, right.
This is the first year that the entire state has been opened up for Holiday doe season, only 5625 have been killed and I'm sure a bunch of those were just "antlerless". I've not killed my two so I can't say anything lol.
The small roaming herd of 9 doe has been skittish at best and are my only targets for the holiday hunt. Everything else is a close resident doe and seems to be in good shape, ratio wise.
Very long and hardest hunting season I’ve ever had. more ups and downs then I knew were possible. I’ve learned so much and stuck with it with help from a good friend and it finally paid off.

Oklahoma deer harvest 01 Oct to 31 Dec 2022. Average of 1.87 harvested deer/square mile. Should provide a rough estimate of deer density. Harvest was likely impacted by human population in each county (number of hunters), and the percent of hunt-able land. Happy New Year!!
