Pretty sure he did it to let the deer know a gang of armed children were coming to get them (me and my brothers weren’t messing around. dad didn’t wanna have to clean 6 deer on a Sunday night, haha) but one time me and my younger brother and dad were sitting on an old trash pile eating lunch and he lit up and we shot two deer in about 3 minutes. Both came following the very visible smoke trail. I’ve seen several intrigued by the smell of WD-40 too. I’ve have much less luck with weird noises, haha.
