There’s a group banging away not too far from the house this morning. I saw a couple thousand geese pouring into a popular neighborhood pond Thursday night. There has been literally zero geese around until this week.
The group that has hunted this nearby field sounds like they are doing well.
I stopped by and talked with them a couple years ago. Y’all may have seen them on IG or FB. Call themselves Goose Cowboys.

Just drove over there. They are a mile north from where I thought. It’s not the GC but guys I’ve never seen before. Also never seen anyone hunt that field in 30 years but they did pretty darn good.

Got skunked for the first time this season. Closing day always seems to be that way. Saw thousands and thousands of geese between yesterday and today. Not into sky busting though lol.

Guess i sensed what was going to happen today and took a pic of the sunrise lol. Some birds around but they were decoy shy and flared at calls. I put my calls away pretty quick but a group nearby didn't.

The few ducks I did see today wanted nothing to do with my calling and hated my rotting old decoys. Nice picture, Make.
We ended the season with our third best on record since 1985. I do hunt much, much more than I did back then so it is a scewed stat. But still overall it was a great year. Top bird was ringneck due to us hunting a lot of cattle ponds.
