Thanks for your "dope" my friends,,,
I've jotted the numbers down in my shooting log.

I know mine will differ from yours,,,
But at least this gives me a start at what to expect.

It's going to be a fun (or possibly frustrating) summer for me.

My dope for the Vudoo 3-60 (20” Helix-6 Carbon Fiber Barrel, 60 MOA Vudoo rail, Vortex Razor Gen III 6-36x56 scope) shows the following for Lapua Super Long Range (1₥ = 3.6”):

50 yards (zero) 0.0₥ 0” drop
100 yards 1.5₥ 5.4” drop
200 yards 6.3₥ 22.6” drop
300 yards 12.2₥ 43.9” drop
400 yards 19.2₥ 69.1” drop
500 yards 27.3₥ 98.2” drop
550 yards 31.8₥ 114.4” drop (550 is as far as I’ve shot it so far)

Working a deal for a Charlie Tarac periscope device that will allow an extra 240₥ of elevation.
Yeah what he said ...........with maybe +/- a couple clicks for different set ups

I ordered a 25 MOA rail from DIProductsinc.com,,,
Mounted it on my CZ-457 Pro Varmint AT-One,,,
Underneath a Vortex Diamondback 4x16-44.

Took it to the range yesterday to get it dialed in,,,
It took me 25 rounds just to get it on paper.

Once I found paper it didn't take long to get it zeroed,,,
But when I did I found I was just a few clicks away from bottoming out the adjustments.

Actually when I think about it that's probably a good thing,,,
My intention for this rifle is to stretch it out to 200 yards and maybe even out to 300 yards.

I will probably need all of the "up" adjustment that I can get.

The reason I'm posting is just to alert other long-range newbies such as myself,,,
That running out of "down" adjustment to zero in at 50 yards,,,
Could be a problem that they hadn't thought of.

I know I certainly hadn't,,,
It was a situation that in my inexperience I simply wasn't aware of.

So I got lucky in skirting a potential problem,,,
I'm just happy that I didn't order the 30 MOA rail from another company.

Next time, pull the bolt and bore sight it. I was on paper first shot at 50.

Were you using a MOA rail or a standard rail of some type?

I've done the boresight thing with a standard rail,,,
It worked well to get me on paper first shot,,,
But will that work with a MOA rail?

I suppose it might now that I think about it,,,
But it would need a gun vise to work.

Will work with either kind of rail. Look through bore, make sure it’s pointed at the center of the paper. While pointed there, adjust scope to be pointed at paper.

I did it with my range bag. Not a vice. Vice would be easier.

The thing about this that made me chuckle at myself,,,
Was that it took me several minutes to figure out
Why I wasn't hitting paper at first.

Oh well,,,
Live and learn. :burnout:

I followed a path similar to Aarond's: I bought a CZ-457 Varmint in .22 WMR several months ago for plinking, and perhaps piglet elimination, at the ranch. I selected a 30 MOA Area 419 mount (choices were 15, 30, and 50 MOA), some medium height rings, and a Vortex Viper PST 3-15x44 scope. I sighted it at 50 yards and don't recall being close to bottoming out, but maybe it was.

In selecting a scope, I focused (ha ha) on a low parallax capability (start at 20 yards) and as much max elevation adjustment as I could have in a scope made in the Phillipines or Japan.

Need to get out with it more, but so far it's my favorite rim-fire.

I’ve got 3 22’s with 30moa rails but all three scopes have 34mm tubes which equates to more reticle travel so 50yd zeros were no issue. I have seen the issue you speak of on a friends rifle. So yes I know the issue is possible. I went with 34mm tubes to give me plenty of room. 400yds is the furthest we’ve run them so far. I won’t bother with posting dope because it’s pretty close to the same as what’s been shared.
