Are there any commercially available bullets that can be swaged to your diameter?
The reason I ask, is because I see various flavors of .50xx cal bullets on sale here and there (Like at H&H or Midway). Not big sellers here in OK.

Those .45ACP case based rounds look like a lot of work, but I understand that the process is as fascinating as the actual shooting.

Waiting to see hog shots!

I have swaged the .501 caliber plated bullets that are made for the 50AE or 500SW. I load and shoot 50AE and 50 Beowolf and the 45acp cased bullets look good for at least the Beowolf. The published upper limit for plated bullets is right at 1200 fps but I have driven them to 1400fps without major accuracy changes. I just machined a die to swage .458 bullets and plan to make some light ones for my 45-70s. I figure that a 250 grain .458 bullet with 8 grains of unique should make a very light and comfortable load to shoot out of a light weight 45-70. It takes me about 6 to 8 hours to make a die with nose punch and base stem. about half of that is the polishing to final diameter. I'm rapidly running out of die steel and will have to make another metal purchase before I do much more.
