7-30 Waters in a t/c

Well I now have a contender carbine with a 23” heavy 7-30 water barrel.

Anyone else out there shooting one of these? I have 49 sized 30/30 cases with it ready to fire form and already have a ton of 130-150 grain soft point spitzers.

I did see serria makes 100 grain varminteers that i wanna try and a friend said his uncle or cousin used one with 120 nosler bt.

Any favorite projectile or powder or even load?

Still need dies and a scope mount for my 4x scope

My dad used to shoot one at steel quite a bit, shot a few deer with it. I've got all of Ken Water's original loads if you're interested them from one of his books. I'm not sure dad ever really found a "bad" load for his, it shot really well. Any of the ballistic tips would be perfect for those velocities on deer.

Sure that would be great! I tried googling some of it but couldn’t find to much

Keep in mind these velocities are from a lever gun in which it was first introduced. Also, start considerably lower on the powder, powder maximum seems to be lower now than 35-45years ago. First pic is from 1985. I didn't see dad's notes for 7-30 in my stash, I'll have to look through again. He was a big IMR-4350 and Reloader 7 fan though.

I have one in the 14" pistol barrel, I use 120-130 grain bt. awesome on deer.
