Evening gents and gals!

thanks to a member on here I am now the proud owned of the Nagants I’ve been looking for! After doing some testing with factory steel cases rounds, I want to test the potential of these rifles as hunting rifles witb hand loads. However, everything is a turd to find right now. So, if you have any 7.62x54r or 7.62x53r brass laying around, let me know and we can make some kind of deal!
Also open to live Ammo as well as I want to test a large swath of kinds and stack some back as possible.
Thanks in advance and happy hunting!

have you considered the "mexican match" method? slug your bore to find it's diameter most likely .311 or .310 could be .308 and find some 147 or 150 grain soft points pull the fmj on surplus replace with the soft point and go hunting.

Ok. Thanks!

yep! I actually tried that and it worked ok, but would prefer to use just straight brass if I can since it’s not one time use and I won’t end up with a lot of spare projos just staring at me. I did the same ages ago on my x39 with great results as well.

Hard to judge. The m44 was off paper high (common) and the ex dragoon was abiut a 3-4 inch 5 shot group at 100yds with the Tula stuff. Already decided to order a different style rear sight (mojo) to get more lateral and certical adjustment plus a better sight picture before I do more formal testing/workup. I also plan to smooth the triggers up a bit as well as I have on my other surp rifles.

I actually ordered the same thing from surplus Ammo. However, you might wnat to check yours. From what I’m reading online, a lot of forums and other retailers are calling them berdan not boxer. I tried calling surplus Ammo before they shipped but they wouldn’t respond to emails or calls in time. If they aren’t boxer, I’m sending them back or disputing the charge since the webpage specifically called them “boxer primed reloadable brass cases” and that’s the only reason I Bought them. Guess I’ll know when they get here Friday and I tear one down to see if berdan or boxer!
