84 shot, 14 killed Chicago over holiday

We all know that Chicago is one of the most restrictive cities in the nation in reference to gun laws. It shocks (I don't know what anything shocks me anymore) me that as they get more restrictive with guns that results in the same effect, they still continue to place the blame on guns/weak gun restrictions.

Why aren't the parents in that area sending their kids to another country for safety? Or, maybe we could relocate the illegal immigrants with kids to that area, and they might want to go home to safer areas.

I just watched the Chicago Police Chief state that the problem is the prevalence of guns on the street.
I did see that 8 of the shootings were by police officers. How many of these shootings were criminal vs. criminal? How many were self-defense against criminals?

Most were gang related, with illegal guns than only criminals can get.

The common rebuttal is "well they can just go across state borders and buy guys at any gunshop". So my question is; how much of this was done with a lawfully-purchased and owned gun? I'd like to see the stats on that.

Not legal, and why would they want to do this in the first place? They want throw down guns. Not something that can be traced to them through the draconian laws in Ill.

Me? No, it's the common rebuttal from anti's that I've seen when you bring up how places with the most restrictive gun laws, like Chicago, tend to also have the highest violence.

Like I said, I'd like to see the stats on that, I bet they would really give an indication as to how shaky that rebuttal is.

there is one bright spot...a group of people were coming out of a resturant and one of the bangers had set his bottle of whiskey on their car...a woman picked it up and set it on the ground...the banger pulled a gun and fired...her date drew his authirized and legally carried weapon and returned fire hitting the fella twice - some stories end well...
