Here's the deal,,,
I'm in the process of talking myself into a Kel Tec P15 9mm handgun.

It will be a range toy that will replace my CZ-75B,,,
But every article I read says the recoil is somewhat severe.

I carry a Ruger EC9s as my EDC handgun,,,
And I do practice with it quite often,,,
So I know I can handle the recoil.

I'm wondering if that could be alleviated,,,
By shooting sub-sonic ammo.

I know I can (and will) answer the question for myself,,,
By adding a hundred rounds of sub-sonic to my next SGAMMO order.

I just thought I would solicit some advice or comments from you guys.

Anyone ever try this for their 9mm range toy?

I shoot 147 standard pressure and it feels it less snappy but its not like it deletes recoil. If your grip is pretty good and youre good at running a pistol fast, then you will probably notice the difference between 147 standard pressure and higher velocity loads.

Depends on the load. Federal makes a 150 grain coated bullet load that is substantially less recoil than "standard" 147 grain loads. It is designed to make a 130 power factor, instead of around 149 power factor (a USPSA measurement). They also make a coated 124 grain load in the same line.

I’ve carried 147 grain HST’s since I started carrying and I never have an issue and neither does my wife. She carries a Glock 43 too. I’ve always thought it shot pretty smooth. But a lot of that can depend on the gun and the shooter.

I imagine that the opposite would be true, lighter bullets would have more potential to recoil less.

Is it just me or does the pistol world think of recoil backwards compared to the rifle world? Recoil from a 30-06 loaded with 150gr ammo always feels lighter than the same rifle loaded with 180gr ammo to me.

My 357sig is downright pleasant when loaded with 68gr Lehigh ammo traveling around 2150fps.
