A highway near you.
Slowly but surely and piece by piece my old 4Runner is coming together. Its already a fairly nice daily driver(excluding paint). I love the BF Goodrich All Terrains and now it is time for some shocks. What do you all recommend? Lm thinking either pro comp 3000s or Rancho 5000s. Any experience good or bad with either? This has no lift kit and the rest of the suspension is stock Toyota. Let me know the good and bad.

For the money I would recomend the Pro Comp's they cost around $140 for a set of 4 and will be just fine for what you are putting them on. If you decide to lift it I would not use either of them

I would recommend using Sky Jacker Hydro shocks, they are for Mild to Moderate off road use and for street/highway use. I use the Sky Jacker Nitro's on my Z71 and they work great, I have used the Hydro's before also, and IMO they are one of the best you can buy

Procomp is one of those companies that buys enough of someone elses product that they can put their name on it. The Procomp 3000's and Rancho 5000's are basically the same thing and both made by Monroe but if you stuck on these two, I would go with the cheaper one.

Your truck is relatively light weight, and with your tire selection I would figure your not doing serious off-roading. I think you would be better off selecting a hydraulic shock and not gas operated. Those two shocks you mentioned are decent but they might give you a rougher ride for what you have.

With being stock or close to it, and mainly driving street with mild off-road I would consider monroe, KYB, or Doetsch DT3000 too.

One more vote for Bilsteins. I had ProComp 3000s on my old Grand Cherokee. I bought them because they were cheap. I was more than happy to put new shocks on to replace these as soon as I had the money again.

Extremely hard ride compared to the Edlebrock shocks I put on to replace them. However the Edlebrocks started to leak almost immediately.

When it comes time to replace the factory Ranchos on my F150 FX4 I will be putting Bilsteins in their place.
