I've seen threads where people mill the integral grips flat and then press in threaded brass inserts. There used to be someone on RFC that did it for a reasonable cost, but that seems like a lot of work/expense since you can buy them with removable grip panels.

Yeah when I got mine I couldn't find one with removable grips. I have seen those threads and that got me thinking about it. I have also thought about selling it and buying a new one but I don't want to take it apart to get all my tandemkross goodies out of it or take a loss on it and have to buy all new goodies.

I did it last year... not real hard, just take your time and it works fine. I was pleased with the results. Use epoxy on the inserts for a little extra strength

Nothing screams poor craftsmanship like wrinkles in your duct tape
