If anyone has been looking for a viable option for adding a QD sling mount to a triangle stock, check out the photos below.
I recently purchased an Impact Weapons Components micro flush sling mount and a Grovtec flush cup for hollow stocks to see if either one could easily replace the integrated sling swivel on a 4.5mm Russian Tula triangle stock. The Grovtec was too large, but the IWC worked perfectly for the space allowed. Not sure if the IWC mount will also work on Bulgarian stocks. Russian Izhmash triangle stocks may also have a slightly different interior profile than Tula stocks as well.
After removing the integrated swivel, the existing hole in the stock just needs to be enlarged to 1/2". I did not have access to a drill press, so I just used a hand drill on low speed with cutting oil. I periodically swapped to a Dremel with a 1/2" conical stone attachment to help chamfer the hole to keep it concentric. A 2mm T handled ball end hex wrench was needed to access the set screws. Echo 93 performed this same installation on a triangle stock (not sure of manufacturer), but notched the top and bottom struts to access the set screws. With a ball end hex wrench, this isn't needed.
