I was playing this song this morning on my way home from work when I was nearly hit head on by another car that crossed completely over the centerline and ran me into the ditch. It may have been the closest I have come to death as an adult.
In retrospect, the irony is uncanny....
The song is a blend of a New Orleans funeral march ("2nd-line rhythm, walk me that mile") and rock, seriously soulful heartfelt vocals and lyrics reflecting one's peace in death extolling love of friends and family in life... I have posted the lyrics before, but I hope some will listen without distraction and hear what I hear in what I consider to be one of Ian Moore's most meaningful performances ever. "Today" is the name of the song... and TODAY it means more to me than ever before.
God bless.
