You cannot beat Uncle Hermann and company for rousing marching tunes. Maybe the sickos have the best music?
The Russian Revolution spawned a massive human tragedy, but I have to admit, they sure made some rousing tunes during that era, like "the Internationale"... you have to listen to it in a foreign language and without subtitles so the trite lyrics don't ruin the sound of the music itself.
I really don't have an issue with a band playing songs like this, in and of itself. Though they represent a monstrous philosophy, it is possible to appreciate the aesthetic beauty in the music regardless. However, when the band is dressing up in Red Army uniforms and carrying a hammer and sickle, that crosses over into the realm of commemoration, or celebration. I certainly think commemorating or celebrating something like the Russian Revolution, especially the part played by the Bolsheviks, is in very bad taste. It's definitely not something I would allow my kids to participate in. I'm sure very few, if any, of those kids (or even the administrators) were aware of the tens of millions killed, the countless lives destroyed, and the untold suffering that was caused by the government that revolution formed. Most of them probably thought it was funny, or "ironic."
