I use an alcohol lamp, just holding the brass at the midpoint and dropping it into water when it gets too hot to hold.

Built this for around $70. Had a problem with split necks on .223 brass and annealing bottle neck cases before sizing solved the problem.

Easy....just find yourself one of those things that the wife uses on the dinner table that turns round & round. Put the brass in a pan with enough water to cover the head of the case. Turn it with a steady pace. Hold your torch far enough away as to not get the brass too hot and watch the color. Do not let it get red. When the neck starts to change color tip it over in the water. It works. I 've done lots of 30-06 cases like this to make 7.7x58 cartridges.
