Its time to replace the tires on my wifes car and I was just looking for a bit of advice.

her car currently has on Michelin Energy P215\60R16

she just does in town driving for the most part, i didnt know if i should just replace them with the same tire or if there was a good tire that might be a bit cheaper, im not looking for the cheapest tire possible but I dont want to over pay for the most exspensive one either, LOL. I'm just looking for a good solid, affordable tire.

Here, but occasionally There.
My first experience with Michelins was way back in the '70's. I've always been pleased when they were on my wife's vehicle, whether it was for short trips or for long ones. In a sense, along with the suspension, the axles, and the frame, the wheels and tires make up the very foundation of a vehicle or trailer.

Michelin's are excellent tires. Continental makes some good ones as well. Both brands (along with Pirelli) are specified for most high end cars. I usually always use Michelin, but recently put Continental ExtremeContact DWS (DWS for Dry, Wet & Snow)on my GS460 and I've been very pleased with them.

Car tires, and tire dealers will inspire as much internet passion as a "what oil" thread, or a "glock versus xxx" thread.

It's hard to say any specific brand is universally great these days, although Michelin does seem to stay near the top, you just have to pay for it. The OE Pirellis on my truck are terrible, I've been impressed with some Yokahomas and not others, all Dunlops suck(IMO), Bridgestones weren't that great for me either. The last set of tires I bought were Hankooks, there were honestly a great tire for the money.

The ford OEM spec pirellis do suck on both the f150 and the mustang. Dunlop has a nice tire we out on the gt last year. Sticks like all get out. But they aren't going to make it over 30k miles.

The MXV4 is a great tire and the final contender to the ExtremeContact DWS I selected. I spend a lot of time over on the TireRack.com site doing compsrisons and checking specs before I buy. It's a good place to do head to head comparisons on all aspects and where they rank on your priorities.

My luck is different..Yes tires of different makes will change the MPG.
I could never wear out a Michelin it always had the radials come out the side walls or toss the tread before i was even close to the wear bars..Same goes for General tires..2 i will never run...oh make it 3 the duellers by bridgestone are the same way.

Dunlops were good to me as were Kelly's
But remember this..the tire you got 4 years ago will not be the tire you get today most of the time anyway...they always change it up a little bit....Except for some of the classics some of those will stay the same for 20 years.

Crap shoot i say.
Yes i am hard on tires, thank's for asking.
I used to average 60,000+ miles a year on my cars.. down to 35k now
