I bought a Savage 10FCP-K LE Model with a threaded heavy fluted barrel in .308. Shot a total of 12 rounds through it to sight it in and deer hunt. Accu-trigger is very nice and the recoil is mild with the muzzle break. Have my eye on the Ruger Scout now. Evaluated my bolt gun needs and realized I will probably always hunt in Oklahoma and long range shooting isn't something I will commit to.
The questions:
1) The scout is based off of the M77 action. How will that compare to the Savage?
2) The accu-trigger is awesome. How is the trigger on the Ruger M77 rifles? Will a trigger job be needed?
3) The 10FCP-K has a 24" barrel. Will dropping down to a 16.5" barrel effect the accuracy up to 400 yards?
I am looking for just what the Colonel ordered. A hunting/tactical .308 that is all purpose.
