AR15 Pistol to rifle back to pistol

Are there any restrictions on AR15s as far as building a new receiver as a pistol, or a rifle, or making it back into a pistol after it was a rifle? Or just need to comply with NFA?

As far as I understand it, you can't make a rifle a pistol but you can make a pistol a rifle and then a pistol again.
Good luck getting that in writing from someone though
