Newly-minted Oklahoma State Senator Nathan Dahm has filed some of the best, most exciting legislation I've seen in decades, that really stand up for States-rights and seem to me like no-brainers. I was thrilled to read each of Senator Dahm's bills and was very hopeful that this great legislation could become law. For those who don't bother to keep up with legislation, some of the 11 bills Sen. Dahm has introduced is the Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act, the Oklahoma Second Amendment Protection Act and the School Carry Act.
Today, a the High Noon Club at H&H, my hopes were shot down by one of my most favorite State Reps, who said while he fully supported all of Senator Dahm's bills, they have almost zero chance of seeing the light of day, since the Chamber of Commerce pretty much runs the Oklahoma Legislature and the Chamber of Commerce has no interest in the Second or Tenth Amendment.
Does the Chamber of Commerce call most, if not all the shots at the State Capital and is there anything Oklahomans can do to overcome the power of the Chamber of Commerce?
