This ^ It could be real easy to overreact in a situation when you don’t have all the facts. (Of course there are scenarios where quick action is necessary. I remember one such where I was living in Oregon and it was a cold and FOGGY night. All of a sudden I hear a woman screaming for help outside and a man yelling at her. I first grabbed my pistol and headed for the door, Once I opened it I could barely see 5 feet in front of me. The yelling and screaming for help from women continued, but I realized i had no idea where they were and what I would encounter. I decided to retreat and call 911. Turns out when the police arrived they found him pulling her along the ground by her hair with a gun in his hand. It ended in a pretty tense standoff. I am glad chose to retreat and call LEO. I was not prepared to deal with a situation like that and could have easily ended up shot or shooting hm. All that being said, I would help a LEO if they were in distress. I would do the same for a citizen IF it was very clear what the situation was AND I had the skills to do so without harming others.
