I was stationed in the DC area twice, and while the money is nice, I sincerely doubt that is the real issue, especially considering the DC Govt gets barrels of money from the US Congress: YOUR TAX MONEY.

What it is about is punishing and bullying the lawful gun owners into getting rid of their guns. The DC Govt vowed to get revenge after losing their court case. "This is not over."

If you ever go to DC as a tourist, be aware that POSSESSION OF ONE EMPTY CARTRIDGE CASE IS A FELONY unless you have a DC registered gun that fits that case. And of course, no non-resident can register a gun in DC.
