Well I feel I have done my Red part helping these poor souls. For 15 years, up at 6:20AM home 8-9-10PM most evenings and usually working some on the weekends only to have 47% of the money I earned taken away and a lot of it given to the Blues who slept late, enjoyed their day and waited for their monthly check. I guess they really are a lot smarter than me as I hear their comments of why we need Obama. You got him, hope your life works out.

OK, we'll be good losers. Let's do this (from a friend's blog):

If I were a Republican in Congress right now, my strategy would be simple. Give Obama everything he wants. He wants Card Check, give it to him. Cap and Trade? No Problem. An open door immigration policy with full amnesty? Coming right up! A revised tax code that forces the wealthy to pay their 'fair share,' to be defined of course by the federal government and the size of the deficit? At your service sir! Wage and Price controls to make sure that people don't make 'too much' money? What a brilliant idea!

Give him everything he wants. One of two things will happen. The progressives will turn out to be right, and we will have the most prosperous, secure, plentiful lives in the history of America, Or they will be proven wrong yet again and have nobody to blame for it.

And for those who believe we have a duty to stand up for the people and to work in their best interests, just point back to Nov. 6, 2012 and remind them, "This is what you voted for. This is what you wanted."

I think you hit the nail on the head several times in this post....

1. Businesses can fail or grow regardless of who is in power.
2. Sitting on your ass and drawing unemployment isn't going to help you compete in the job market
3. Sometimes thinking outside the box and taking an unexpected position (i.e., one "beneath" your skills) can lead to a whole new avenue you never considered that could be much more satisfying/profitable/etc.
4. It's about doing what needs to be done to get people back to work and businesses back to growing. Overtaxation doesn't do that. Neither does overregulation.

Anyways... there is hope for small business, it's just going to be a longer, harder road, and you're going to be told the whole way that, "You didn't build that!" and you need to give more. If these are acceptable situations, then by all means, continue to work hard and struggle. If it is not, then you can go back to Quickie Burger and punch a timeclock. Either are perfectly viable and acceptable options.


Anyone else expect to find Hugh Akston serving up burgers and fries out in some little truck stop on Route 66?

Engineer buddy of mine got laid off. Went and applied for a job at a railroad company as one of the techs that drives around fixing and maintaining problematic railroad lights. They said he was overqualified for the position, but offered him a job as an Engineer instead. Things work out like that, sometimes, but yes money is money.

Balkanize it! We have such great division in this country that we might as well divide it up. On top of that, is there really ever any winners after our elections? Our side wins, their side wins, but nothing ever really changes. Funny how that works.

Some would contend there's a third side that always wins because they play the peoples wants, needs, and fears then feed off of the divisions and adversarial environment they fostered if not created.
