FSU to SEC seem lik a better move geographically, but like has been pointed out they don't bring much to the table.
Pitt would not be a bad addition to the Mini12. BYU would bring Romney into the mini12 fold...

I sure wish Tulsa brought more to the table as they are fun and spirited team with a tiny (by comparison to current big12 teams) following that never quits. Great program. Same with Houston most seasons. They bring no revenue and would be net suckers on the pool of money though. Not a smart conference decision.

Sadly, college football=all about the money

I like the idea of adding FSU, Clemson, Louisville, Georgia Tech. These schools all have their own in-state rival in the SEC, and would then give us a lot of cross-conference measures.

We need healthy cross-conference games. OU plays some, as does OSU and some of the others (Texas played tOSU a while back I recall). But many never step out at all, and I think that hurts the conference(cough*KSU*cough*. Force some SEC opponents into our schedule (i.e. by trying to preserve the rivalry games) and it would to tremendous things to our strength of schedule.

From what I understand, the SEC won't take Clemson, FSU, Louisville, and GT because they already have one school in those states and refuse to add another for whatever reason. Which would be a great reason to snatch them up (see my post above).

Also, Tulsa isn't small by Big12 standards, it's small by ANY standard. They have the smallest enrollment of ANY FBS school (2900-3100 undergrads), or at least they trade off with Rice for that award. Compare to Central Florida who is 2nd largest with 51,000 undergrads. And Tulsa competes very well in conference. It's pretty amazing really.

A lot of it isn't that the conference wont take them, it's that the schools within the conference (who are in the same states) don't want the recruiting competition. Why would Florida, who already loses recruits to FSU, Miami, etc, want to risk facing them head to head each season?

Plus, in terms of current conference expansion thinking, those schools don't bring anything to the table in terms of new TV markets and revenue. That is why TAMU and Missouri were appealing to the SEC, the Texas and KC/St Louis TV markets are means big bucks for the conference.

This is accurate...the SEC wanted Clemson, but S. Carolina fought it pretty hard. At this point, it would be pretty hard to bring a school into the conference that already has a major in-state rival in the conference. These days it's all about TV markets and money anyway. The Maryland move to the Big10 has brought Va Tech back into the SEC discussion because of the DC market.

Florid State isn't that great of an addition to the Big 12. They don't travel well, and don't have many home sell outs.

Clemson would be great, and it would be a real great if we could also get a Boise State.

I wouldn't expect Clemson to travel to Big12 road games any more than I would FSU.
