I was out fishing Tbird the other day by myself in my 1975 15 foot closed bow Bayliner.
I had my Garmin GPS in the boat and decided to do a test.
Against the wind full throttle on the 1975 50 HP mercury 2 stroke was 25 MPH and with the wind was 25 MPH.
Slight chop but no white caps.
That was with a 15 pitch prop and the boat took a little bit to get on plane. About 10 seconds.
Like it was lugging down.
With 2 extra passengers in the boat it takes a good 150 yards to get on plane.

I pulled up on the shore and stuck on my spare prop which is 11 pitch.
Right back out on the lake and against the wind it was 25 MPH and with the wind it was 27 MPH.
Jumped right out of the hole and on plane in about 4 seconds.

With passengers that 11 pitch gets on plane really quick.
Will be running that and keeping the 15 as the spare prop.

Yea I carry spare props on my boats. And tools and silicone and electric tape.

do you take your gun collection with you when boating?

No but I have a big problem with knives and pliers jumping ship.
Had an old hickory long filet knife on the back of the boat cutting shad and tossed out a jugline and the string was under the knife during the toss and the knife jumped up and right into the lake GONE!.

I was tossing my shad net 3 weeks ago and seen something red jump overboard from my pontoon boat deck.
Wife said it was the Snapon needle nose pliers.

I need to quit laying my tools down.

I have changed props in the Arkansas river while floating down stream.
Sure do not want to drop the nut.

I was trying to remove a lifting fin on the pontoon that I made for testing while in the lake.
Dropped my craftsman 7/16 wrench to the bottom of the lake.

You know what is the kicker I do not take any alcohol on fishing or hunting trips so it is not a drunk thing.

Then you should start tying your tools to beer cans. They float.

I've got pieces of pool noodle tied to my skinning pliers and needle-nose pliers. The needle-nose are dang near essential when running jugs from a kayak.

The skinning pliers I have aren't made any more and I'd cry if I lost them.
