Rumor has it that they've been significantly overstocked on Shields at S&W and that they are trying to clear out and make room for the new, improved Shield 2.0.
That's about the only thing that's kept me from buying. The 'original', or current, Shield is pretty good.
I had a buddy offer me a used Shield in 9mm a couple weeks ago for $400 with an extra mag. I did the gentleman thing and didn't laugh, but did show him how far off he was on his price. He did sell it to someone else for $350.

It's amazing how many people don't follow gun prices and overpay on an item without checking out what the going rate is.

I sold mine for $350 with an extra mag and a pocket holster about a month before the rebate came out.

I've been hoping for the arrival of the Shield 2.0 along with the Compact 2.0.

I really need some gun money! :)

Prices have been spiking on weapons since Obama came into office and demand skyrocketed. So the dramatic drop in prices was inevitable. I recently bought a colt AR-15 LE6920 for 600 dollars.

Not to mention the fact that all the manufacturers were expecting Hillary to attain the Presidency. So when Trump, with the support of the NRA, got into office they were surprised. They had tons and tons of weapons stockpiled for sale and ramped up production to meet demand during the height of the gun ban panic buys after Sandy Hook and Aurora.

Now that Trump is President, and the fear of immediate gun bans have passed with a Republican majority in Congress, demand has dropped dramatically.

If you're going to buy a gun or related accessories, now is the time to do it. before things stabilize over the next year or two.
I've had 2 different gun dealers tell me this in the last week.I printed off the gunbuyer.com ad and neither could come close to that price.Gunbroker has had some pretty good deals on the shield in the last few weeks.

I think auctions tend to reflect actual gun worth faster than retail or manufacturers do, because of supply-demand dynamics.

Retailers are slower to match those prices because they already paid full retail price from the manufacturer for those weapons and want to make a profit. In fact, the gun i paid NIB off gunbroker for cost 300+ extra at retail. Once the drop in demand catches up, i'm guessing the prices will drop to reflect that as these folks try to sell off their stocks.

I'm wanting a new Ruger MK IV Hunter, but I feel that the $599 Gunbroker price plus shipping and FFL is too high as well as the $679-699 locally priced is too much.
I'd like to see these down around where the MK III's were a couple years back at $499.
