Burris FastFire 3 w/ Springfield XDs

Hello Everyone,

I am planning on purchasing a FastFire sight for my Father for Christmas and was wondering what kind of mounting options I had for installing this sight to his Springfield Xds 9mm.

I am surprisingly not finding very much in the way of information regarding the mounting of the optic to this firearm. I have seen on Burris' website that they sell a mount to attach it directly to your slide for several different pistols but the only one offered for Springfield is listed for the Springfield XD.

Is this mount compatible for the whole line of XD pistols or is it going to be a specific model.

I just want to make sure I get him a functioning mount with his gift so he doesn't have to go through the return process to enjoy his gift.

I've never seen an optic mounted on a single stack pistol and I'm not sure it's possible. The optic may be too wide for that pistol.
