I am looking to have a basic AR15 stripped upper, lower, and 13" key mod rail coated in a single color. So far the only places I know that do Cerakoate are Harsh, OK Guns & Gold, and Black Label Armament. I'm just looking to see if y'all have had good experiences with any other companies so I can shop around a bit more. The last thread I found that covered this in depth was in 2014 so I don't know if other options have emerged. A few that say they do Cerakoate just farm the work out to Harsh I believe. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I used Firearms Solutions in Duncan a couple of times. they did an outstanding job. Only thing was the first one I had a Remington 700 bolt done, they did not clean the sand blasting grit out of the inside of the bolt, which caused it not to fire. However, they corrected the issue and offered to deliver the bolt back to me.
The second one they left some grit in the chamber and barrel from sand blasting, which took some time getting all of it cleaned out.

Off the grid, I hope
I have had an ar15 done at both Harsh and Sooner Guns and Gold. Both do excellent work. For a single color go to Sooner and save a bunch of money. Nothing wrong with Harsh at all but you pay a premium.

Agreed, Harsh quoted me $65 more for the same work. It's looking like guns and gold is gonna be one of the cheaper places. Plus I went in there the other day for the first time and everyone was very pleasant to deal with.

Follow up, I ended up going to Sooner guns and gold to have my gun coated. I paid 100 for the upper, lower, and 13" BCM rail. I guess you get what you pay for. A ton of sand from the blasting process was left in the gun and just painted over.

I noticed some spots when I picked it up but I was going to complain since they were much cheaper than other places. Once I got home and started to assemble the gun I really noticed how lazy of a job it actually was. Might just do the next one myself.

I hate to hear that man. If you think you can do it yourself I would at least try it. I do all my own stuff because if I mess it up theres nobody to blame but me. The outside does look good in that last pic.

Thanks man, I've painted cars and motorcycles before. I feel like I could do it and I know for a fact I could do a better just than what you see above. I would at least take to time to properly prep and clean everything.

I do quite a bit for me and my friends and have learned from mistakes I made so if you decide you want to try it Ill be glad to answer any questions. I learned a lot from a week long class I took a few years ago in alternate finishes.
