Chicago is turning to Twitter to get ideas from people about how to deal with illegal guns, as part of "Chicago Idea Week." They want people to use the #WhatIfChicago hashtag to give them ideas.

Somewhat predictably, they're getting buried ATM with pro-Second Amendment and CCW ideas, at least from what I've read in my stream

I predict that all of the pro-gun suggestions will be unavoidably and irretrievably lost.

This link should allow you to see the comments, even if you don't have a twitter account:

Nothing says "STOP !" to an armed aggressor better than the open end of a barrel in their face. Nothing stops a persistent armed aggressor better than the projectile discharged from that barrel. Attrition of armed aggressors will lead to less armed aggressor problems. More arms in the hands of the citizenry is the answer, not less. For all you evolution aficionados out there, we shall call that a logical and necessary factor of the natural selection process. DO NOT blaspheme the process of natural selection with your misguided disarmament agenda.

I'm not on Twitter, so if anyone wishes to copy this to that Chicago twit thingie, go for it.

City Looks to Twitter for Answer to Gun Problem
The best submitted ideas will be debated at an Oct. 11 panel discussion

The City of Chicago is asking residents with ideas on how to get illegal guns off the streets to share their thoughts — in 140 characters or fewer on Twitter.

The initiative is part of Chicago Ideas Week, an annual forum for innovators, artists, scientists and others to share ideas and inspire action.

Those who think they know how to cut off the flow of illegal guns into Chicago are being asked to tweet them with the hashtag (hash)whatifchicago.

The best submitted ideas will be debated at an Oct. 11 panel discussion.

Chicago's social media director, Kevin Hauswirth, says the effort is a great example of "the potential power that social media offers city government."

According to police, 382 people have been killed so far this year, many by guns, as of the middle of September.

Looks to me like there's quite a bit of pro 2nd amendment folks in ole Chitown. Hmmm

I've mentioned it before, but last summer when my brother and I drove up to Chicago, we saw countless signs along the interstates promoting GunsSaveLives.org (or something like that). I saw more pro-gun signs in Illinois than I've ever seen in Oklahoma. In fact, the only gun-anything signs I see in Oklahoma are billboards for gun shows and possibly a random advert for H&H.
