It should be noted that he cannot be compelled to execute Federal directives (see Printz v. United States), so this is not exactly a meaningless stand.[/QUOTE]

Uh... What? If he can't be compelled to enforce a federal directive, then this is about as meaningless a stand as he can possibly make.

"The law doesn't require me to enforce this directive, and I'm not going to do it."
Huh? What?

You really have to admire a man who isn't going to do what the law doesn't require him to do.

He needs to add another post to his web site daily to declare his intentions not to do what the law doesn't require him to do.

This is all fine and good, but did anyone ask why his department had deputies going around to stores around Nov 1, pressuring businesses to post their gunbuster signs that included the badge of the Sheriff's department? Told them, "We can't protect you if you don't put these signs up." They were really thick in Lexington, where they also had the badge of the Lex PD on them, as well. They also claimed that carry past the sign was a crime, and misquoted state law.

I was wondering if someone was going to point this out.:wink2:

I have noticed that many here are so desperate to like a politician that says something good about guns that they'll make their decision based upon a meaningless soundbite or dubious promise.

Until a Sheriff truly takes on the federal government a la Sheriff Joe, I don't buy into their cold dead hands talk.
