Therein lies the rub. I don't mind at all eating leftovers, but I'm terrible at planning, and if it takes me more time to prepare a meal than it takes to eat it, I'm not much interested :wink2:

Gosh, I guess that leaves you to eating bolonga sandwiches and canned soup... ;-)

My house is setup so that I can easily watch TV while I'm cooking, so my cooking time goes much faster. The time I invest cooking during one evening, is time saved on follow up meals. Also, I take leftovers to work for my lunch and save the $8-$10 cost of lunch.

And dont forget, very few women know how to cook any more, so you can easily impress them with your mad cooking skills. Albeit the bar is pretty low, but its a positive impression none the less.

I've done chili and tried beans of all sorts in the crockpot. I have great results with canned beans, but I wish there was an 'ultra low' temperature setting for the thing. It gets up to 250 on low, which is too high.

Here's what I dumped in the slow cooker tonight:

Head Country Beans:

2 cans of Pinto Beans
2 cans of Dark Red Kidney Beans
3 cups of leftover corn relish (it was yellow corn, blackbeans, onions, and a little red pepper) that was well past it's half-life and almost tossable
1/2 White Onion
12 oz Head Country BBQ sauce
8 - 10 oz water
2 TBSP Garlic Paste
2 TBSP Ham Bullion
Few pumps of soysauce to bring up the salt
1 LB of Smoked Sausage

I made my infamous dutch oven chili. Carne Picada, ground beef, light and dark red kidney beans, diced tomatoes, onion, garlic, lots of chili powder, cumin and oregano. made a 10 pound batch and there is nothing left. Of course, we had 11 people here tonight (4 adults 7 kids 11 and under).

The wife does not cook, so I get the requests. I made beef stew last weekend, looks like its Taco Soup this weekend. And yes, she knows how lucky she is. LOL

I got some stuff called Vaquero Soup Mix at last year's state fair, from some people called Old Plantation Soups. You use both chicken breast and ground beef in it, and one bag of mix makes a gallon of soup. It's got rice, beans, veggies, and all sorts of goodies in it, and no MSG or any of that ****.
