Good evening all. Are there any of you fine folks knowledgeable in these? Different barrel lengths, calibers, values? I have 1 that I would like to find out about. It is not 45 caliber. Correspondence is welcomed.

Ammo's hard to find but like a lot of older cartridges, you're better off reloading. Starline has 41 Colt available for back order. This is originally a BP cartridge like a lot of these that transitioned from BP to smokeless. I don't see any proofs either.

Yes it is a 41 colt. I have a letter from colt in it from about 1966, that I have to look for. The holster is hand made as well as the grips. The last time I shot it back in the late 60’s it shot good. I have no idea what is worth. But I rarely see one in 41 caliber. Does that make it more rare than a 45 cal.?

I have a Colt Model 1877 Double Action (DA) in .41 Colt (Thunderer) mfg. back in 1901. Good luck finding loaded ammo - seems like a very few small companies still make it, but it's never in stock.

I or my sister has a 41 colt da lightning. Not thunderer. It too has letter. Also has a story of belonging to Henry McCarty, AKA William Bonney. Long story short; the kid worked as a ranch hand for a short time. Got in a poker game, lost his money and gun to ranch owner’s son. the Kid road away. Gun has been in my family for many many years. I have shot it too. Grip panels are initialed on inside with a W on one and a B on the other. There appears to be 3 notches on one grip. The ranchers son kept the gun, inherited the ranch, had no children of his own. He and my father became good friends when my father was a young man and prior to his passing, gave the gun and story to my father. My father passed in 96 at the age of 73. And yes it suffered the same problem most of colt DA’s of the time did. Trigger return spring.
