So the answer to the looming war is to fight the war like the biggest war we lost? Who are these people?

There is no way to win a war against this type of opponent. There is no "other side," just a bunch of individuals.

We can throw as many soldiers in the pit as possible, but with our current (and Iraqi/Afghan historically noted) rules of engagement, there is no way to wage the war on those individuals.

If our Gov were serious about dealing with these extremists, we'd leave the region entirely and completely cut off the cashflow to countries around them, surely taking a big cut out of their funding.

We've won our last war, because 51% of the people in this country don't have the stomach to fight a war in the fashion it takes to win one.
