You know, everyone wants to rag on Jones, but it wasn't Jones dropping those TD passes, and it wasn't Jones letting the opposing QB run all over the place, and it wasn't Jones' fault the coaches kept slowing the game down and changing the play with less than ten seconds to go.

Stoops is a great coach, but they need to keep the up tempo game going and stop slowing it down. And defensively, they need to stop with the man to man. It puts your fastest players out of position to cover the run and leaves them standing right next to a potential blocker.

During the 2000 season, Stoops led the Sooners to an Orange Bowl victory and a national championship.

Overall, Oklahoma is 3–5 in BCS games, but 7–6 in bowl games under Stoops.

Now in his 13th year as head coach of the Sooners, Stoops has a combined record of 148–36 (.809). He has only lost 4 games in Norman, and accumulated a home winning streak of 39 consecutive games from 2005 to 2011. The streak was ended on October 22, 2011 when Texas Tech defeated Oklahoma 41–38. He also has the most wins of the decade of any BCS school with 109 (2000–present). Along with Bennie Owen, Bud Wilkinson, and Barry Switzer, he is one of four coaches to win over 100 games at the University of Oklahoma. No other college football program has more than 3 coaches to accomplish such a feat.

He led the Sooners to the 2000 BCS National Championship and finished the season undefeated, outscoring 13 opponents by a combined 481–194. His Oklahoma teams again earned the opportunity to play in the Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game in 2004, 2005 and 2009, losing to LSU 21–14 in the 2004 Sugar Bowl, and to USC 55–19 (a win which USC was later forced to vacate by the NCAA) in the 2005 Orange Bowl, and University of Florida 24–14 in the 2009 BCS Championship. Oklahoma under Bob Stoops has played in more BCS National Titles games (4) than any other school.

The Buffalo Bills don't have seven national championships.

OU lost three games this year, and they all went the same way--the team that played with sound football fundamentals won. The defensive ends couldn't contain the Little Sisters of the Poor, let alone a Heisman winner; the linebackers looked like they were playing a completely different game; and the DBs threw themselves on the ground in a vain hope that the A&M players would trip over them.

The offense doesn't get a free pass, either. There were too many dropped passes (two in the end zone!), and too little execution--those three and outs in the 3rd quarter absolutely killed them, and they compounded it by making mental mistakes (Brown is too good of a receiver to step out of bounds like that). You just can't do that against a good team.

As Teddy Lehman just said in the post-game, the coaches can only do so much in getting the guys in a position to make a play; at some point, the players have to stand up on their hind legs and make a play. OU didn't; A&M did. It really is that simple.

He didn't build all of it but he had several JUCOs on that team that he recruited, look it up.
