[QUOTE="SierraRanch, post: 2418419, member: 33112"] My 1911 was built with many different parts. RIA frame, AutoOrdinance Slide, and a Firedragon barrel. I liked it because it was chamber in 40 S&W and has purple grips. at the time I got it I had only shot 9mm and didn't think I could handle a 45. I didn't know, but learned this weekend, that you can't just take a 40 S&W barrel and place it in any old 1911 add a 40 S&W mag and make it work. But then I am not a gunsmith. I didn't know until I took my gun to a 1911 specialist that you need to buy a whole different slide or upper to rechamber your 1911. My 1911 was having many issues with feeding, not firing when pulling the trigger, and jamming. Now, understand that before we divorced I didn't have lots of time to do anything beside fire a round or two out of it due to working a full time job and working in the business. When I started target shooting I found this gun would not fire normal factory ammo without the above problems. I had Rick look at it at least twice, even had him fire it once to see what it was doing. Saturday it was acting up. I would pull the trigger and it would not fire, I would pull the hammer back again and it would fire. It was jamming so hard on the next to the last bullet in the mag that it left a 1/4 inch dent. The rounds that did fire were ejecting over my head instead of to the side. The 1911 gunsmith I took it to at the show said the difference in head spacing on a 40 to a 45 and the different kind or amount of powder used could have caused the gun to blow up in my hand. And this was the cause of all the issue I was having with it working consistently. I have not researched all the workings of a 1911. I will be the first to tell you that I am not an expert and not a gun smith. I do have a Mosquito and an EAA that I love and shoot very well with. I also have a nice shot gun and matching set of Sig 556 and 522. I love target shooting and do pretty well. I will take care of my self and my horses, which might mean going coyote hunting soon. You can troll my pictures on facebook and see most of my guns and my targets from shooting. I will be the first to say I need more practice with my cool girly targets.
