For some of you that remember my Hi Power fiasco from a few years ago…I sent my HP to The Action Works based off of a bunch of recommendations…things didn’t go well, it took FOREVER (I think 18 months, after being told 6 weeks), and when I got it back (he never told me it was being returned, thankfully I had shipping notifications turned on with the shipper), I was disappointed in the results. In the 18 months it was gone, I got into the P226 Legion SAO…so when the HP came back and was disappointing, I just put it in the safe and “forgot about it”.
Yesterday while running some work errands, I was in the same town as Cylinder and Slide. If you know Hi Powers, you know who they are. I talked to them in person, told them who and what was done, and they told me why my gun feels the way it does now. He told me what to look for, and sure enough when I got home, he was spot on. He said bring it by and they’d take a look at it, and should be able to alleviate the issue I’m having.
I’m going to be back in their town next Tuesday, so hopefully I can get this HP back on track…as I loved the gun until I tried to make it better. I’m pretty confident in C&S after talking to them, they really know their stuff and were cool about me just dropping in with no notice to talk shop for a few minutes. Anywho, wish me luck!

Basically the easiest way to get a lighter trigger (which is not necessarily what I was after) is to put a super light return spring in. It "works", but now you have no perceived reset on the return because there's no resistance on the parts. There's better ways to lighten the trigger, as a "true" gunsmith knows, while still having a tactile reset.

Sure enough, he described the spring, and showed me what should be in there, and it was the light one. So, maybe it's just a spring, but gonna take it to them and let them check it out and see if we can get back to a smooth trigger, that actually has a felt reset.
