went out this morning with a couple of buddies. our lease is just now holding birds after ten years so we're pretty pumped. we set up and have a couple gobbling at us from across the pond and a large grove of trees. maybe 200 yards or more.they were holed up and not moving. one of the guys just had knee surgery so he was going to stay and call and the other guy and i were going to cut the distance. right as we stood up they came flying over the trees and flew right at us! they startled and flewback into the trees. we can only guess that they didn't want to wade through the knee high wet grass. busted!
