Life was so dang good when you thought of a great old movie,,,
Then went to Netflix and they delivered the DVD to your door.

Today I saw a blurb on Yahoo about my all-time favorite western movie,,,
The Big Country starring Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, Burl Ives,,,
It even had Chuck Connors playing a bad guy bully.

Gregory Peck was the star of the movie,,,
But the performance by Burl Ives as Rufus Hannassey stole the show.

He won an Oscar for that performance.

I believe this movie had the best theme music ever,,,
Yes, even better than the Magnificent Seven.

Click here for the opening credits and theme song.

My retirement was looking so danged pleasant,,,
Then the Netflix bosses decided to ruin one big aspect of it for me.

Dang their eyes!

Yep, still have the disk for John Wick 2 that I had when the return options stopped. They said keep it.

The Big Country is free on Tubi streaming. You don’t even have to wait for a DVD in the mail.

I was just getting ready to post that when I saw you had beat me to it.

Dang. The Big Country was the last movie I watched with my mom, less than a week before she passed. She said she loved the fight between Chuck and Peck.

Strangely enough, not much later, that fight was in one of BRCC’s “Veterans React” videos on fight scenes.

There is much value in owning a movie, and having a near permanent copy of it, it cannot be altered from its original release. This happens more often than you think. Unfortunately DVD's an Blue Ray disks have a finite life. Alpha Particles degrade them over time. Average life span is 8 to 10 years, in Oklahoma with low levels of radon much longer.

Or you can back up your physical media to a raid array (I have several copies in multiple locations) and have it "forever". Been doing it since DeCSS was a thing, if that tells you anything.
